PRODUCT PACKAGING
We also pay attention to the packaging of our products. The main purpose of the packaging is to safeguard the product during transportation and handling. In addition to this, the consumer packaging helps with decision-making through the information, instructions and labeling on it. We constantly seek to ensure that suitable amount and quality of the packaging materials is used. When possible, we try to replace the packaging materials with less harmful and more easily recyclable ones. To make waste sorting easier, almost all our packages include instructions for recycling.
PRODUCER RESPONSIBILITIES
Producer responsibility (EPR, extended producer responsibility) is the obligation under Finnish Waste Act for manufacturers, importers, distance sellers and packers of certain products to arrange waste management at their own expense for the products they place on the Finnish market when the products are decommissioned. Producer responsibilities make recycling efficient and easy in the society.
Tammer Brands is producer responsible for the products we place on Finnish market and our customer companies are producer responsible for the products they place on their local market if there is local EPR-legislation. If Tammer Brands would sell directly to EU-consumers, we would bear the producer responsibility of those items put into market according to country’s local EPR-legislation.
Tammer Brands manages the producer responsibility for the products and packaging it imports. For all required product categories imported by Tammer Brands that are subject to producer responsibility, Tammer Brands has joined the producer organisation: electric and electronic appliances waste, batteries and accumulators, paper, packaging and packaging waste and SUP products. In this way, we take responsibility for the life cycle of our products and contribute to the circular economy. For our customers, we inform our producer organisation memberships on the Tammer Brands General Terms and Conditions of Sale.
